The Cincinnati chapter was founded at the business luncheon of the 2nd AOSA National Conference which was being held in Cincinnati at UC November 1970. There were 12 of us there at the table. Stan Rowland, Rosemary Koepfle, Mary Thomas, Elizabeth Taylor, and

Stan drew up our chapter on a paper napkin and submitted it to Arnold Burkhart at that time. They chartered us on the spot!

Stan Rowland was the first President, Rosemary Koepfle was the second, and Jim Schneider was the third chapter president.

Grace Nash was our first "headliner" chapter presenter. Because she wanted us to succeed- she only charged us her airfare and did not accept a fee. That was the start of our lucrative treasury!

We first met in the evenings at Roselawn School where Jay Broderick was the music teacher. Stan can tell you of the time we found the building locked and Jay had to crawl in a window to open the door. We also met sometimes in people's homes. We played music from the volumes and shared ideas and lessons.

I'll bet Stan still has a copy of the 1970 Conference Program. Our "headliner" at the conference was Jos Wuytack on his first trip to America. He spoke very little English - mostly "OK". Stan and Mary can tell you how he worked with their students.
