GREATER CINCINNATI ORFF WORKSHOPS
FOR MIAMI UNIVERSITY ONE SEMESTER CREDIT 2009-10

General Information :

• Participants ( "students" ) register and pay for university credit at the first workshop on Saturday, September 19, or beforehand. [ If interested, e-mail Kay Edwards at KayMusEd@aol.com for a registration form. ]

• Participants will receive 1 graduate credit (SEMESTER hour) as MUS 599.D.

• The course is entitled "Professional Growth in Orff-Schulwerk". A course syllabus will be provided by Dr. Edwards at the first workshop. Participants are asked to stay 10 minutes after the September 19 workshop to meet and review the syllabus.

• Letter grades are used for the course and are outlined in the syllabus.

• Although participants register for a Fall Semester course, grades are given after the final workshop in the Spring.

Requirements :

l. Attendance at all 4 workshops for full length of time ( if one is missed, student must view videotape ). This is required so that all participants have a minimum of 16 contact hours.

2. Participants write a summary-critique-reaction paper for 3 of the 4 workshops for graduate credit and 2 of the 4 workshops for undergraduate credit ( 2-5 pages per paper ).

3. ( Graduate level only ) Participants write one lesson plan based on content from one workshop in a specified format which will be provided that includes evaluation/assessment of learning.

NOTE : The Greater Cincinnati Orff Chapter has agreed to waive the cost of
the workshop fees for participants who enroll for college credit.

Out-of-state students $ 1051.00 ( Note: Some school districts near to the Ohio state border that accept Miami Univ. student teachers get this fee waived, check with Betty Kimball the Bursar's Office, 513-529-8737, to see if a particular district qualifies. A letter from the superintendent is required to verify )
